OCR Text last thursday morning at about the beautiful union pacific lodge va cil bight angel point at tho the grand canyon caught tire fire and wathla withla a short time was waa burned burnea to the ground the tire fire started in the mess room just juat which la Is not or ld kitchen ly knova i tho the flames auckly to the dormitory where the girl employed emp loyes were wera sleeping and drove them from their apartments without their bs haj lon longings the entire building tap rabidly idly tilled filled ath a douse dense smoke and all etem apts to save the safe with tile the records and although every mono money y were useless effort was made to do a BO the curio shop with ita many any ex pensive curios was also burned as well as two deluxe cabins tho the rest ot tho the cabins were arbod by br spread ing wet blankets over thern them ot 3 when the watchman went his rounds evory everything thing seemed to be all right but at 4 18 when the siren begun to blow the entire building was in fles fl ti es the burning ot of the largo large pitch pine logs ol of which tho the building waa constructed caused an a a intense heat oven even several hundred feet abaiy although there were forty five gu guests cats at tho the lodge and sonio some thirty five employed emp loyes no one was hurt burl guests who camo came to kanah commended mr air highly for or the way he handled tile tho situation and the courtesy lie be showed his guests although the building was waa awell su supplied pried with fire hoso hose athing could be done to saxe save it because the water bu supply aply was so sa low
