Several students from the Parowan High School have achieved perfect attendance during the first semester of school. They are Nancy Adams, Tracy Adams, Wendy Orton, Gordon Judd, R. Scott Thornton, Lori Ann Robinson, Terri Ray Horton, Eric Adams, Sheri Judd, Brent Benson, Quinten Robinson, Carla Robinson, and Brenda Zitting. Attendance is an important ingredient necessary for achievement in school, and a special commendation is in order for these students. SUSC Students run to aid handicapped communities in this fund raising effort and to enlist their support in behalf of our marathon runners," run-ners," said Kevin Griffiths, Beaver, marathon co-chairman. A film produced during last year's marathon is currently being shown to clubs and organizations throuehout southern Utah. This is the third consecutive year that SUSC has spearheaded the project, according ac-cording to Griffiths. Dixie College has joined this year's effort and will send runners to Salt Lake City via Enterprise, Minersville, Milford, Delta, and Fillmore. Runners from College of Eastern Utah will meet the SUSC group at Thistle Junction. The public is invited to attend the marathon send-off assembly Friday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. in the SUSC Recital Hall. The runners will leave Cedar City at 12 noon on that date. They will travel over U-14 to U.S. "Highway 89, and from there to Salt Lake City. Students from Southern Utah State College will take the lead in the annual March of Dimes fund raising drive which was started yesterday in Cedar City. With the help of students from Cedar City High School and other community volunteers, the SUSC group will attempt to contact every home in the immediate area to solicit financial support for the anti-birth delects program. Many of those assisting in the canvass are members of the SUSC marathon running team which will travel from Cedar City to Salt Lake City on Jan. 28 through Jan. 30 in support of the state March of Dimes campaign. The runners will arrive in the Salt Palace on Sunday to participate par-ticipate in the KSL TV Telerama. As they run through the state, the runners will be followed by volunteers who w ill canvass communities enroute for campaign funds. "We intend to make this an all-out all-out effort to interest everyone in Cedar City and other Utah |
