Show i j Ma, un Pa, un the whole Family went to the Fair (TV Mto & j PAROWAN Were you j among the smilers and the wavers at the Iron County Fair Carnival last weekend, j "wasn't that fun" we pay a I fee, and put the little kids on the rides and as they shriek t in terror we all smile and wave. Well, of course there j are some exceptions. I ; noticed a couple who smiled and waved back. Have you I noticed you hardly ever see adults on the rides. It takes a ' few years to learn, but i eventually we all wise up the i fact that it isn't really fun to ! have your stomach tem- l porarily separated from i your body, and your neck ; subjected to five minutes of : continuous whiplash. The Fair was exciting, and from the size of the crowds I think almost everyone in Iron County participated in some way. The exhibits were so beautiful. I stayed away from the canning display and the garden crops. I want -to keep on thinking that cucumbers are supposed to be fat and short and slightly yellow like they are in my garden, and I don't want to see those bottles filled neatly slender uniform sized string beans, while mine grow Older and fatter on the vines, waiting for nie to muster the ambition to harvest them. Did you see Those quilts? Every kind you can imagine. I wonder how .many stabbed fingers they represent and how many new words the ladies thought up as they sucked bleeding fingers. There were some there that were far too pretty to ever be put on a bed, they are probably destined to spend their lives in a plastic bag in the liall closet. The parade was so exciting ex-citing and the floats all so beautiful, I'll bet Evelyn Orton and quite a few others have a few aches and pains from climbing around on those hay wagons for weeks while creating those gorgeous things. The horse races and rodeos were spectacular, of course. Rodeo announcer Met Johnson can make you think you're having fun if you're sitting in a mud puddle on a rainy day. But it was very exciting and well planned by chariman Art Walunas and his board members. I'm already looking forward for-ward to next year, I wouldn't want to face all that hubub again tomorrow, but next year I'll be ready. |
