Jerry Wardt representing the State Highway signing department, de-partment, met with the council coun-cil about the signs on Paro-wan's Paro-wan's Main Street which still encroach on the main thoroughfare, thor-oughfare, stressing the fact that many such signs placed on the street are temporary, and urged the city to put a stop to this practice. He also reminded Parowan City officials offi-cials that main street property proper-ty owners are going to have to take down any permanent signs of such a nature that encroach on the right of way or hang out over it, that in the very near future they will have to be removed on . state orders. Mr. Ward also met with the group in behalf of his father, Howard Ward of this city, who with Mrs. Ward are on a service mission for the LDS Church. It seems that several years ago when the municipal swimming pool was in the planning stage., there was a land trade made between the Wards and the city. The former for-mer owned a small piece of land where the lawn is just south of the pool which was needed in the project, and the city owned a piece of ground farther south, lying north of the present road leading into 200 south street. A trade was made between Ward and the city and he gave the city a deed for the land, but didnn't receive one in return. It was also reported that only one official bid had been received on a call for a new patrol car for the police department, de-partment, with two feeler letters, let-ters, not official. The one bid came from Dunt Motor Co. and was held over pending a call for additional bids. City Recorder was asked to send out additional calls, with the calls to go out to motor companies outside of the local area, asking for new bids, in order to make the bidding official.
