C I a The Senior class of the Kindergarten Kindergarten Kindergarten Kinder Kinder- garten department organized last week The following officers were elected Jennie Gray president president president dent Bessie Jones secretary and treasurer This is the largest class that has ever been in the Kindergarten department The girls are trying to make this department department department de de- of the school known as many people have been entirely entirely entirely entire entire- entire entire- ly ly ignorant of the fact that that such sucha a department existed o 0 Already members of the Senior Senior Senior Sen Sen- class of the Engineering School who will graduate next June are casting about for the subject of their theses Several excell excellent nt subjects have already been selected by many of the stu stu- dents Indications are that the work undertaken by the Seniors will be of as high and original character as ever before Among the Civil Engineers problems in inthe inthe the measuring the flow of water over weirs have been selected Some are already at work in the new hydraulic laboratory securing securing securing ing data for their theses Many l mill problems have been ben selected by the Mining Engineers but several of the students have t L a broken out in a new line to do f original work Two of the Seniors Seniors Sen Sen- Seniors have already selected the mining district on the North Provo Bench They have made two trips to this field and have done considerable assaying of sam samples pIes taken by them Though not fully decided it is highly probable that the class of five students in Geology four h. h s will undertake a study of the Geology of the Newhouse mining district in Beaver county Utah Definite permission has not yet a abeen been secured as Mr Newhouse is in N New ew York but it is hoped that arrangements can be made so that the first trip south may be made during Thanksgiving week The second trip will extend over overa a period of ten days It will be made during the Christmas vaca vaca- tion The third and last trip will willbe willbe willbe be made in the early spring Other engineers have not yet y elected the subject of their theses None however have not given the subject serious consideration F but the question which troubles V many is the difficulty in securing such a subject that they can make some showing and secure as much benefit from the work as possible Their aim is to undertake something something some some- J.
