Show Parowan Stake girls present annual leadership program Saturdal, Oct. 24, the first annual Girls' Leadership Con-fen Con-fen nee was held for the MIA age girls of the Parowan Stake. It was held under the direction of Mrs. Lylo Halter-man, Halter-man, stake Laurel Leader and the Laurel Launching Committee Com-mittee consisting of Joyce Marie Munford, Bonnie Judd, Lorraine Farnsworth, Vicky Mathcson and Wendy Robinson, Robin-son, and proved to be a success suc-cess in eveiy way. The day began at 9 a. m. with a general session in the Parowan High School auditor- i ium. Guest speaker for the occasion was Claudia Morten- i sen of Salt Lake City. Special ' musical numbers were presented pre-sented by the Laurels. Then the girls were divided into four groups for workshops work-shops in which Mrs. Bruce Decker discussed "Decorating", Miss Mortensen discussed "Dating, Charm" and Mrs. Alone Felix discussed "Child Care", and "Courtship and Marriage" was treated by Mr. Thoo McKean. Delighti'ul demonstrations dem-onstrations and interesting information in-formation made these very successful with the girls. At noon a luncheon was served to over 150 girls and their leaders by the luncheon committee, consisting of Mrs. Helen Jones, Mrs. Veda Mathcson Math-cson and Mrs. Etta Louise Mathcson, all of the Enoch Ward. Following the luncheon, the girls went back to the workshops work-shops and then gathered at 3:30 for a second general session ses-sion and final event of the day. Theo McKean was guest speaker and the meeting ended end-ed with a fun skit which pointed out the folly of marrying mar-rying too young. |
