Show I Three Councilmen to he Named At Municipal Elections Tuesday I Activity is just beginning to stir in Cedar City for the I Municipal Election to be held i Tuesday, Nov. 7 for the election of three Cedar City Council-men. Council-men. I Candidates for the three offices of-fices have been named by the Republican Party and two by the Democratic Party, but very little political fever has been stimulated. Qualified voters, however, will be treking to the polls on November 7 to make; their selections and the political machinery has been put into operation to facilitate the vot- Two of the three candidates i named on the Republican tick-iet tick-iet for the election are incumbents incum-bents and will be seeking election for an additional term. He was named to the council to fill the unexpired term of Graham Gra-ham Mac-Donald. The third candidate on the Republican ticket will be Robert Ro-bert C. Hansen, Cedar City pharmacist, in his first at-.tempt at-.tempt for a political office. I The third incumbent councilman council-man is Rulan Woodbury, Dem-jcrat, Dem-jcrat, who was named to fill no unexpired term of Frank ,Jetty, who resigned to accept .lie appointment as Cedar Ci-y Ci-y s Postmaster. On the Democratic slate of .no ticket only two candidates tave been named. They are iex Harris an employee of Utah Construction and Mining Min-ing Company, and Keith Jnpps, owner and operator of Ceith's Westside Grocery. Although Harris has sought election in the past it is the irst time that Cripps has made x bid for political office. In the balloting for council-nan council-nan residents might become confused as the method of jalloting. In most elections candidates oppose one another. In the muncipal election the .three candidates with the highest number of votes, regardless re-gardless of where they appear ap-pear on the ballot, will be elected. For instance, Robert C. Hansen Han-sen is listed first on the Republican Re-publican ticket and Keith Cripps is listed first on the Democratic ticket. They do not, however, oppose each other. Regardless of pol tical affiliation each candidate is in essence running against all other candidates on the ticket for the majority of votes. Polls will open at 7 a. m. Tuesday and close at 8 p. m. Voting places for the 11 Cedar Ce-dar City Districts were listed as follows Distrit 1: City and County. Building. District 2: East Elementary.
