Show Long Hair - Part of the Act For Utah Shakespearean Festival "Who was that lady I saw you with last night?" "That was no lady, that was a Festival Fes-tival actor"--or so the story goes. Thus the Utah Shake- while working for his masters degree. 3 Years with Festival Another third year returnee to the Festival is Jim Sims who recently graduated from University of California at Riverside. In past seasons with the Festival Mr. Sims has performed per-formed such roles as Falstaff in "The Merry Wives of Windsor," Wind-sor," Glouster in "King Lear," Babtista in "The Taming of (Continued on Page Two) spearean Festival is underway under-way with a company representing repre-senting 16 of the top drama colleges across the nation. Actually, the long hair is just one of the many lengths the Festival directors go to in order or-der to add authenticity and sixteenth century realism to the Shakespeare plays. Many of this year's company com-pany members will be familiar fam-iliar to Festival audiences, having performed in previous Shakespeare productions. Tulane Student Sabin Epstein, who has just .completed a year of graduate work with Tulane University, I New Orleans, Louisiana, is returning re-turning for his third season with the Festival. In addition to acting he will serve as Festival Fes-tival Movement Director. Mr. Epstein will be remembered for his previous roles as Dr. Cauis in "The Merry Wives of Windsor," Don John in 'Much Ado About Nothing," Oswald in "King Lear," Kor-tensio Kor-tensio in "Taming of the Shrew," Decius Brutus in "Julius "Jul-ius Caesar," and Thurio in "Two Gentlemen of Verona." During the last year at Riverside Mr. "jims has created such roles as John Danforth In Arthur Miller's, "The Crucible," and Orgon in Moliere's, "Tartuffe." Mr. Sims will soon begin work on a masters degree at Brand-els Brand-els University, Waltham, Massachusetts. Charles Edelman is returning return-ing to the Festival as Fencing Master as well as actor. Now in his second Festival season, Mr. Edelman has previously performed the roles of Gremio in "Taming of the Shrew," Speed in "Two Gentlemen of Verona," and Artemidorus in "Julius Caesar." Mr. Edelman is presently a Master of Fine Arts candidate with the Stanford Stan-ford Repertory Theatre where he will return when the Festival Fes-tival season ends. With a BA degree from the University of Michigan, Mr. Edelman has served as a guest lecturer in dramatic literature at Stanford University as well as at the University of Michigan, Also returning for second season with the Festival are Susan Lyn Tanner and Robert Pratt. Both are students with the University of California at Santa Barbara. Last season Miss Tanner performed the roles of the Hostess in "Taming "Tam-ing of the Shrew," Calpurnia in Julius Caesar," and the Milkmaid in "Two Gentlemen of Verona." Mr. Pratt played Valentine in "Two Gentlemen of Verona," Nicholas in "Taming of the Shrew," and Trebonius in "Julius Caesar." With only three weeks remaining re-maining before Festival opening, open-ing, reservations may be made by calling the College of Southern Utah Auditorium Box Office between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for students. |
