Show SOCIAL SWING I The Lady of Elks canyon party scheduled for July 17 has been canclled because of the visitation visita-tion which will be held July 30 at the Elks Lodge. Mrs. Bunny Harris, Supreme Commander of the Emblem Club,, will be the guest speaker. Setting aside their sewing for the summer months a grcup of ladies are enjoying evenings together to-gether with their husbands. The most recent of these functions was held on the patio and lawns at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Cripps. A ham supper was served after which games including in-cluding volley ball were played. Assisting Mrs. Cripps as co-hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Chester Cripps and Mrs. Calvin Johnson. M. . Porter, of St. George, who recently recent-ly returned from a month in Detroit, Det-roit, Michigan, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Beard of Las Vegas, Nevada. The out-of-town ladies also spent some time with Mrs. Forrest Hunter and Mrs. Reed Leigh. Hostess to members of her pinochle club on Tuesday was Mrs. Ilarl Judd. Club members welcomed Mrs. Lamar Graff as a new member and greeted Mrs. Wallace Sjoblom as a guest of the evening. Light refreshments were served by the hostess. A summer morning breakfast honored the outgoing officers of the MBW club. The beautiful gardens of Mrs. Mel Ence was the scene for the festive morning morn-ing social. Honored during the morning were Mrs. Kins Stevenson, Steven-son, Mrs. Robert Bauer, Mrs. Hal-dow Hal-dow Christensen and Mrs. Hy-rum Hy-rum Perry. Each lady was resented re-sented a lovely gift showing the appreciation of the group for the services rendered during the past year. Mrs. Merrill Petersen and children traveled to Gunnison and then on to Provo with other family members to attend the FJeldsted reunion held at tho Provo Memorial Park Saturday. Distinguished guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lehl M. Jones this past week were Mrs. Vera Wand -Schneider and daughter daugh-ter Joan of Buenas Aires, Argentina. Argen-tina. Mrs. Wand-Schneider Is an instructor of dance at the University Uni-versity of Argentina. She and her daughter have been studying dance in Salt Lake City this sum-1 mer and became acquainted with the former Janet Jones. The Argentine Ar-gentine visitors toured the parks of southern Utah and planned to travel to England before returning return-ing to Buenas Aires in November. Novem-ber. "A Man's Mother", a story written writ-ten by Gladys Has? Carroll, was reviewed by Mrs. Kimball Jensen Jen-sen for the ladies of the H a:id H Club on Thursday. Hostess for ' the occasion was Mrs. Claire Macfaralane. Joining the club ladies was Mrs. Rulon Knell, a, former member. j Mr. and Mrs. Glen Froyd have as ' their guest Mrs. Froyd's sister, Genevieve Allen, who is head of the Dairy Council of Detroit, I Michigan. A week will be Bpent by the visitor enjoying the hospitality hos-pitality Pf the Froyds. Fishlntf and sight-seeing were combined in Yellowstone National Nation-al Park by Mr. and Mrs. Dell Car-penter Car-penter as they enjoyed a vacation. vaca-tion. Enroute to and from Yellowstone Yellow-stone the Carpenters visited in Wyoming with their son Jack and Gene Smith, who are working work-ing for the Forest Service. In Kamas, Utah, they spent some time with the Boyd Carpenter I 'family and getting acquainted with a new granddaughter. In Osden they were welcomed by itneir son Lee and in Salt Lake City they were the guests of Marilyn and George Welch and enjoyed the Welch's new little daughter. |
