Show CORRESPONDENCE Thomas H. H Glenn A. A B. B 1901 Igor is isnow v now at Switzerland where the great Swiss locomotive works are si sit sit- bated He writes We do not appreciate our own environment environment environment until we find another surrounding us and I am certain that if the student studies nature because he loves it if it willbe willbe will willbe be far more profitable for him to remain at home and study the hills of Utah than to come to Europe and gaze upon the scenery here The Alps are beautiful almost beyond description but even in these mountains there is not the the great variety of color tv that at we find at home and they certainly do not afford nearly as fertile a field forth forthe for forthe th the geologist as the Rocky mountains The longer I study European scenery and schools the more I am convinced that people come here more for the reputation reputation reputation tation than to gain knowledge We judge a school only by its work Most of the machinery used here is made in America and I cant can't s see e why students need to come here to learn to set it up Yet dozens of our American boys are found in the University studying studying studying study study- ing Engineering The requirements for entrance in the University here are so far as I am able to find out lower than at home and the European degree reports to the contrary notwithstanding is easier obtained than a degree degre in any of our first- first class Universities in the United States We Ve hear a g great eat deal about Froebel and but in my opinion there is ismore ismore ismore more and in inAm Am American rican schools than here and in many respects I think our American schools are superior to European schools |
