The Mountain Fuel Supply Co. took leases on several thousand acres of land in the west end of Parowan Valley, and the red hill area overlooking Enoch and Rush Lake, and undertook the drilling drill-ing of a test well for natural gas this spring. The test well, proposed to be drilled to a depth of more than 11,000 feet, hit an Igneous rock structure at approximately 4,KV) feet and was abandoned immediately immed-iately several weeks ago. Nothing more was heard from the company until last week when it notified the owners of land under lease that it "does hereby release, surrender and abandon all of its right, title and interest in and to that certain cer-tain oil and gas leases which were dated in January, 19G2." The above notification wrote an end to another dream we might have nourished that we might turn into an oil or gas producing area. . |
