Show Elwin Seely Assumes Leadership Of Local Legion Post : 5 ' ' ' 1 V I I Ml ELVIN A. SEELY Elvin A. Seely, an electrical engineer for Columbia Iron Mining Min-ing Company in Cedar City, has been elected as the commander of American Legion Post No. 74, It was announced this week by Max Cowan, adjutant. Announcement was made following fol-lowing balloting by mail to the post members. Installation will he held in the near future, Co'V-an Co'V-an stated. Seely was elected to succeed Dale Milne, who has served as commander of the Cedar City post for the past year. Milne will automatically become a member of the organization's executive board. Others elected to assist Seely during the next year included Albert Albertson, first vice com mander; Gordon Brlnghurst, second sec-ond vice commander; Max Cowan Cow-an adjutant and finance officers; Merrill Cubson, chaplain, and Arthur Dustin, sergeant-at-arms. Executive committee will include in-clude Milne, Lester Blake, Evan jDobson Claude Edwards Herbert, Milne and Ray Duerksen. Retiring officers Include, In addition ad-dition to Milne, Gordon Brlnghurst, Brlng-hurst, first vice commander; Walter K. Granger, second vice commander; Cowan as adjutant and finance officer; George W. Grlmshaw, Chaplain and Eldon Fullmer, sergeant-at-arms. The new commander resides at 4 10 South 225 East and has been a resident of Cedar City for the past two years. Prior to moving to Cedar City he was employed with Geneva Steel Works in Utah County In the designing department depart-ment and was transferred to his present position with Columbia here. Mr. and Mrs. Seely are parents of three children, twin girls age 11 and a boy, age 9. He has been active In Legion work, having served most recently re-cently as publicity chairman for the presentation of the Navy band here under the sponsorship of the local post. |
