Show I Recreation Building Receives Gifts At the General Coordinating Council meeting held last week Mr. and Mrs. John Smith presented pre-sented the council with a check for $100 In the name of the Community Com-munity Sunday School to be used on the new community recreation recrea-tion building-. Earlier Prof. Harold Har-old Davis of Pomona College of Claremont,' Calif., who has summer sum-mer homes in the valley and at Navajo Lake, had made a $20 contribution to the building fund. Most of the council meeting was taken up with routine committee com-mittee reports. The group formally formal-ly approved plans of the Wildlife Federation for improving and developing de-veloping the community park on Highway 56. Phyllis Wood, Campfire Girls leader, reported that the girls were planning to ask the Escalante Valley Women's Wo-men's club, who sponsors the girls, to rra Hl clothes to be sold before Christmas in order to raise money to complete the girls' uniforms. Mrs. Joan W. Wheatley of Par-owan, Par-owan, and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ward, were In attendance at-tendance at the meeting. Mrs. Wheatley, on behalf of the Iron County Fair Committee, presented present-ed the money won by local croups at the fair. The community commu-nity agricultural exhibit received $10 for being the best exhibit In the fair, and Lions Club - Women's Wo-men's Club float, was awarded $25 as second prize money in the parade. The dange: jus condition of the road from the Mile Square Ranch to Beryl was discussed; however, It Is understood that this condition condi-tion has since been corrected. Otto Fife reported on the meeting meet-ing of the Y-Z Trails Assn. In Ka-nab Ka-nab recently and the group indicated indi-cated a willingness to actively support this organization. Alex Wood repjorted that permission per-mission to drill a well for the recreation building had now been received from the State Engineer's En-gineer's Office, and that the well site could be made ready any time that Frank Quinn and Arthur Ar-thur Piper were ready to go to work on It. Dave Love reported to the council that there was some misunderstanding mis-understanding with the County Commission about funds to repair re-pair the local fire engine; however how-ever he has since reported that he attended the meeting of the Commission on Monday, and that funds for this purpose were appropriated by the commissioners. |
