Show State Laws Require Special Work Permits for Youths Minors who are under 13 years of age must have work permits before beginning any employ- iiiciit, 'jatijig tiie Suitiiiici Vacation Vaca-tion or otherwise, the State in-dustiial in-dustiial Commission warned. "Child labor laws of the state do not seek to prevent minors from working, but they are intended in-tended to prevent exploitation, accidents and injury to health," Mrs. Gertrude Knapp, director of the women's and minor's division divi-sion of the commission, said. Employment certificates, she explained, can be obtained from district school superintendents or other local Issuing officers In the superintendent's offices. She urged the Issuing officers to make sure such permits are Issued Is-sued to minors only for lawful and non-hazardous jobs. |
