Show Redmen W allop Rams in Fast Moving Ball Game to Improve Season Record the Parowan Rams football pow-ers pow-ers ended the 1959 season with the Redmen pounding out a 39 to 12 victory. A comparatively slow three periods of play gave way to the unusual fourth period per-iod with a total of 30 points being be-ing scored in the last 12 minutes play. Neither team scored In the first period of play, but. a drive by the Rams which was stopped on the Cedar 12 yard line sparked action in the period. Taking over j on their own 12 the Redmen moved out to the 45 yard linei to end the period. In the first play of the second quarter the Redmen were forced to punt and the Ram offensive was stymied In its own territory and a punt put the Redmen back on their own 46. Danny Lindsay,, top ground gainer for the Red-men Red-men this season, broke off tackle tack-le and raced to the sideline and the Parowan goal only to have a clipping penalty on the Ram fi.-e yard line by Mike Smith, nullify the TD and put the Redmen on the 20 yard stripe. From there Sam Chamberlain I moved for five yards to the 15 and Jeff Marchant, at quarter-jback, quarter-jback, went the distance on a I keeper after being hit at the line of scrimmage, to score standing up. Brent Foulger added the extra ex-tra point to give the Redmen a 7 to 0 lead. Cot Hit Again Midway in the second period tht1 Redmen generated another touchdown drive that began" on the Ram 45. In five plays the Redmen had scored. Marchant kept and picked up eight yards and Smith moved to the 25 for a first down. Chamberlain and Lindsay moved the ball to the 15 and Smith broke off tackle and raced 15 yards for another Redman Red-man score. Foulger again connected con-nected for the place kick and Coach Hal Norton's Redmen went I Into the half with a 14 to 0 lead. Midway in the third period the Redmen, with Leigh Rosenberg at the helm, generated another touchdown drive that covered 67 yards In three plays. Terry Klrt- i ley did the scoring with a 43 yard run that began on an off tackle play. Moving-into the Parowan secondary Klrtley hit the sideline and outran the secondary into the end zone. Rodmen Chance It Near the end of the period, deep in their own territory and with a 21 to 0 lead, the Redmen began a series of gambles that eventually gave the ball to Rams las the quarter ended. On three consecutive occasions the Red-men Red-men went for the first down on fourth down situations. First gamble was a fourth and two yard to go situation on the Cedar 23 and Smith carried to retain possession. Second gamble was a fourth and four on the 31 and again Smith came through with five yards and a first down. Third gamble didn't come through with a fourth and five on the 40 yard stripe. Rosenberg kept and picked up only one yard and the Rams took over to set up the eventful fourth period. The Rams moved to the Redman Red-man 14 yard line only to be thrown for two losses and the Redmen took over on their own 20. On the first play Klrtley picked up two yards and the second sec-ond was a pass patern from Rosenberg Ro-senberg to Steve Cahoon, who moved directly Into the flat to catch the pass and he streaked the distance for another Redman touchdown. Plav covered 78 yards. Parowan Moves In After another Cedar gamble had failed on the Ram 45 Parowan Paro-wan took over to set up Its first score. Two running plays and a 15-yard piling on penalty against the Redmen put the ball on the Redmen 33 yard line. From that point Ronald Smith, at quarterback quarter-back for John Wood's Rams, raced rac-ed around right end and moved Into the end zone standing up. Receiving the klckoff on the opening play from scrimmage found Klrtley as a sleeper on the sideline and Rosenberg hit him and he ran 65 yrrds without being be-ing touched for another Redman score. The Rams attempted a similar pattern but the pass overshot. However, another pass from Dennis Den-nis Lowder to end Kenneth Bet-tridge Bet-tridge moved -the Rams to the Redmen 30. Roger Burt hit through the line for five yards and Little Jimmy Lamoreaux broke around end for 27 yards to the Redmen 3 yard line. Burt plunged over for the score from the two for the Rams. Still More Action After all this the game was not over. With time running out both teams to the air and after losing possession on down, Danny Dan-ny Lindsay snatched up a Lowder Low-der pass on the Redmen 40 and returned It the the Parowan 25 yard stripe. Foulger again carried car-ried for 8 yards and a pass front ball to the 3 and Chamberlain plowed over for the final score of the game.
