Show r t CONSTITUTION AND ND LAWS Y Or OP THE rJ UNIVERSITY Or OF UTAH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 0 Constitution Preamble REALIZING G that physical development is as essential to our well being as mental development we the undersigned students of the University of Utah do form ourselves into an Athletic Association Association Association tion and adopt the following Constitution Constitution Constitution tion and By Laws Article I 1 Name This Association shall be known as the University of Utah Athletic Association Article II Object The object of this Association shall be beto to promote encourage encourage encourage en en- courage and supervise all athletic exercises exercises exercises ex ex- arid and especially to establish a gymnasium for the use of its members The Association shall furnish gro grounds ds apparatus suits or uniforms necessary to the carrying on of all athletic games athletic games which come come under its supervision said raid apparatus suits or uniforms to co be the property of the Association and said grounds to be at the disposal of the Article III Membership Section I. I All Professors Assistant Professors Instructors and students student of the University of Utah may become active mem members bers of this Association Section 2 All graduates and former students of the University may become associate members of the Association Association on the payment of the fee and regular dues dries Section 3 Any qualified person desiring to become a member may do doso doso do doso so by paying to the tile Treasurer Treasur r an initiation initiation initiation initia initia- tion fee of 50 cents and by signing the Constitution Article IV Officers The officers shall shaU be a President a Vice-President Vice a Secretary a Treasurer and an Executive Committee consisting of the above named officers and five additional members members mem memo bers selected from the Association i I Article V. V Duties of Officers 1 Section 1 The President shall preside preside preside pre pre- side at all meetings of the Association and shall decide all aU questions of parliamentary parliamentary parliamentary parlia parlia- law that may arise he shall to the best of his ability preserve protect protect protect pro pro- and defend the Constitution and andrules andrules andrules rules governing the Association Section 2 The Vice Vice President shall shallin in the absence of the President perform all the duties of f that officer Section 3 H. The Secretary shall keep a record of all proceedings of the Association Association Association Asso Asso- and attend to all correspondence of the Association and shall also be bethe the secretary of the Executive Committee Section 4 The Treasurer Treasur r shall keep all moneys of the Association and shall have charge of all property belonging to the Association He shall keep an account of all moneys received and disbursed disbursed disbursed dis dis- by the Association which account ac ac- count shall count shall be open for the inspection of any member of the Association No moneys shall be paid by him except on the request of the Executive Committee countersigned by the President and Secretary of the Association Section 5 The duties of the Executive Executive Executive tive Committee shall be to purchase all necessary apparatus make all appropriations and to transact all business connected with the Association not conflicting with that of the other officers heretofore enumerated They shall meet in in official capacity every w week ek to dispose dispose dispose dis dis- pose of accumulated business and their will shall be the will of the Association Article VI Section 1 Elections All elections of officers shall be held at the last official meeting of the j Association in each school year and the officers elected shall assume their respective duties at atthe atthe atthe the beginning of each school year Section 2 Vacancies shall be filled filled at special elections c called by the dent Sect Section 3 All l voting sh shall shall ll be by 1 e a ballot and the person receiving the greatest number of votes shall be declared declared declared de de- elected Article VIII Each ach club or team belonging to the Association shall be entitled to a representation of one 1 member on the Executive Committee Article VII Amendments The Constitution Constitution Constitution Con Con- can be amended only by a three-fourths three majority vote of all members members members mem mem- bers present at any meeting of the Association called for that purpose providing that the amendment be submitted submitted submitted sub sub- in writing to the Executive Committee at least one we week ek before the time of calling said meeting BY LAWS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Article I. I Meetings Section 1 Two regular meetings of this Association shall be held one atthe atthe at atthe the beginning and one at the close of each school year Section 2 The President shall call cail a special meeting upon the written request of at least third one-third of the mem members ber of the Association or when he himself may deem it necessary providing that notice of such meeting be posted at least twenty four twenty twenty- four hours before such meeting is to take place Article II Dues Section 1 Each member shall pay to the Treasurer a monthly assessment of ten cents Section 2 Assessments will be delinquent delin delinquent delinquent delin delin- quent on the of each month and if not paid to the Treasurer of Association within five days after becoming delinquent delinquent delinquent delin delin- quent the delinquent member shall be suspended until all dues are paid in full and shall not be recognized as a member of this Association nor entitled to the privileges thereof Section 3 No person shall be permitted permitted permitted per per- to play in any game conducted under the auspices of the Association unless that person is a member of the Association in good standing Section 4 All AIl members nem bers of the Association Association Asso Asso- in good standing shall be admitted admitted admitted ad ad- to any game or contest played or given und under r the auspices of the Asso Asso- by ticket to be he obtained from the Treasurer upon presentation to that officer of certificate of membership said tickets to be paid for from the proceeds of that game Article III Funds Funds' All moneys which may be collected from the members members members mem mem- bers either as initiation fees or dues and all donations to the Society as well as as' all moneys which may be obtained as the result of gate receipts at any game played by members of the Association shall revert to the general fund to be e kept by the Treasurer Article IV Property No person shall be permitted to appropriate to his own use any of the property belonging to the Association without paying full value for said property Article V.
