Show N THE time of f comparative peace in I IN which we are livin living at present we are apt to ascribe too little im importance to the work of those who have preceded us The people have already declared themselves themselves themselves them them- selves fr free e and independent and have i I long ago brought about the realization of that declaration by giving up their z lives for the c cause use The government r f has already been established and the r laws have been made to which we are arel l subject Of course there are social and economic problems which occasionally r threaten the welfare of the government r z but the sacrifices of solving them cannot cannot cannot can- can not be ce compared in ma magnitude with pry pry- those of subduing a race of almost l inhuman savages or what is still worse of overcoming a civilized nation These however were obstacles which Washington and the early American Americano o t r i 11 i t i ka people had to surmount and their efforts merit the undivided attention of the people of the present time The nation as a whole is required by law to observe the anniversary of Washington's Washing Washing- tons ton's birth but many of the people individually regard this with ence How may the proper observance be obtained The student of day to-day willbe will willbe willbe be the active influential citizen of the future towards him the people will look for an example of loyalty to the government and upon him they will place the duty of formulating their laws Therefore it is important that public schools celebrate the birth of Washington Washing Washing- ton and by so doing impress the students students students stu stu- dents with a proper appreciation of his work Furthermore such a movement by any class or of any institution makes a good precedence for classes that follow them With this consideration tion the Juniors have arranged for a general meeting on Tuesday It is designed to be a class meeting in every sense of the term All the students of the University are urged to be present I wearing the colors of their respective classes The invitation cannot be made public but those especially interested in the school are welcome as long as there is room to accommodate them a G |
