Show OPPORTUNITY SLIPS BY Residents of Cedar City, particularly those organized into groups for civic improvement purposes, are missing an opportunity to perform a real service to the community commun-ity by apparently ignoring the possibilities offered by the acquisition of Wood's Ranch for recreation purposes. The land was purchased by the county during the past winter with the understanding that civic groups would develop recreational facilities on it for public use. When properly developed this canyon site will provide one of the finest recreation ares to be found anywhere. However, local groups have shown very little inclination inclina-tion to undertake projects at the new park. Of course, overall planning has not been completed, but if there was real enthusiasm about the project on the part of civic or church groups, plans for various projects would have been - In evidence before now. . Considerable time remains of this summer and fall during which work on such projects could be undertaken, and if such work is completed this year the park could be put to use next summer. However, if the development is not undertaken the money the county spent for the purchase pur-chase of thejtfoperty will be wasted. |
