Show Lecture Course r f THE cou course se of lect lectures res proposed by bythe bythe bythe the Faculty this year will he pe a new departure in Salt Lake Although formerly lectures have been given during during during dur dur- ing the school year still it was not until last year that a regular course was instituted Now the Faculty have decided decided decided de de- to do more elaborate work in that line than has yet been attempted There will be several lectures by each professor t sor on on some special subject or group of subjects Probably two lectures s a week i will be given on different subjects however however however how how- ever so that the courses will parallel each other The principal object of these lectures lectures lectures lec lec- tures is not so much to benefit the students of the University although it is hoped they will profit by them as that residents of Salt Lake who are unable to take regular regular regu regu- lar college courses and yet who are desirous desirous desirous de de- sirous of adding to their knowledge may have opportunity Many who wish in in- formation on a certain topic topi and wI who wl 0 would be unable to obtain it otherwise except except except ex ex- by hy reading many volumes will here be able to learn what they wish in th the most pleasing manner while it will be necessary to spend very little of their time in doing so In order to defray the expenses of lighting and heating the building a small sum will be charged for a ticket admitting one to all of the lectures This sum will be so small that all will be beable beable beable able to pay it and the University will thus be saved unnecessary expense The CHRONICLE does not doubt that the hearty support of both students and others will be given in so excellent an undertaking undertaking undertaking un un- where the aim is the enlightenment enlightenment en en- t and culture of the people |
