Show East Elementary' Introduces ' v .. Faculty Members : i V." -.1 , !rr I V, -- - - - - MISS VELMA WILLIAMS The only out-of-state teacher at the cast side school this year Is Miss Velma Williams of King-man, King-man, Ariz. Miss Williams may be considered a Utahn however, as her college education began and was completed in Utah. Three years of study at B A C plus one year at B Y U filled the requirements for graduation and since receiving her bachelor of science degree at B A C last spring, Miss Williams decided to stay In Cedar City to teach third graders at the East Elementary school. Bronco fans will remember her . as a cheerleader during her freshman year at B A C, a student stu-dent body officer, a member of Xi Lambda Tau sorority, and as a participant In some of Prof. Twain Tippetts' plays. At B Y U Miss Williams was active in the ,0. S. Travata social unit. Summers between school sessions ses-sions provided many educational opportunities for Miss Williams, having spent two summers working work-ing for the Department of Agriculture Agri-culture In Washington, D. C, and one summer at Zlon National park. While staying in Washington, D. C. she had the opportunity to travel through the southern states by automobile as well as New York, New Jersey, Deleware and other states in that area, thus "rounding out her education with experiences not available through books and enabling her to bring many interesting experiences exper-iences to the classroom and sharing shar-ing them vicariously with her I pupils. |
