Show Iron County Draws Over $4,000 From State's Forests Six southern Utah counties received re-ceived $34,320.99 as their share of the 25 per cent of the returns from nine Utah national forests, Albert Albertson, supervisor of the Dixie National Forest reported report-ed today. Iron County received $4,435.45, Washington County $7,-286.82, $7,-286.82, Garfield County $18,865.55, Kane Count y, $2,276.09, Wayne j County $2,522.68, and Piute Coun-1 ty $35.96 for their share of the returns. re-turns. The money represents one fourth of the years' sales of forest for-est and range products and from special use fees. In accordance with Acts of Congress the money is returned annually to the states from which it was paid, Albertson said, and each county then receives re-ceives its apportionment of the fund earmarked for expenditure on public school and public road programs. Sources of revenue are sales of national forest timber, fees for grazing livestock, charges for land uses and other public property prop-erty rentals or uses. The Dixie National Forest covers cov-ers 1,833,626 acres extending from the Nevada line on the west to a point overlooking the Colorado Color-ado river on the east. The entire state of Utah received re-ceived total returns of the 25 per cent funds in the amout of 170,038.62. |
