Show M a The Chronicle N V O 7 that the third week of the school year has passed the CHRONICLE makes its annual appearance with a cordial greeting to old friends and a hearty welcome to all new comers The editors are pleased to see so many of the latter and trust that their cooperation cooperation cooperation opera co tion and support will not be denied the paper as it is evident from the work of the last two weeks that they number among them some of the most eat earnest nest students in the U University It is a well recognized fact that a a college paper is one of the most valuable adjuncts to college life while it is equally a fact that it cannot exist without without without with with- out the support of the students As a arule arule arule rule the editors never undertake what is really an arduous task from any hope of personal gain as demands are made not only on their time and labor but also alsoR R not on their pocket Part of the usefulness of a college f J 1 paper lies in the fact that it gives contributors contributors contributors con con- an opportunity for careful writing writing writing writ writ- ing and thinking it also helps to promote promote promote pro pro- mote friendly intercourse among the students by informing them of the doings of thair fellows The relations between professor and student are also influenced d by a com common mon topic of interest interest interest inter inter- est outside of school work The paper is valuable to the busy student stude t in another way interesting and valuable information concerning other colleges is given in condensed form under the department of College Circles es whereas the same information could be obtained otherwise only by read reading ng dozens of other college papers Anything affecting the interests of the University is commented on and explained explained explained ex ex- in brief form by the editors while all notes of interest concerning students are found in the various other departments Then too the paper is valuable to those friends and relatives who are interested in ones one's college ollege life and yet do not live near enough to take an active part in it Again on leaving school one may take with him a record of the events which happened in im his day and he c can n often live over over- again some pleasant experience which would otherwise be entirely forgotten In conclusion it may be said that it itis itis itis is both a duty and a privilege for every student to lend to the dignity of the University by helping to maintain a good college paper and THE CHRONICLE earnestly begs each one to not only put It his name on the subscription list but also to do all in his power to make the paper bright and interesting by furnishing furnishing furnish furnish- I ing any information or contributing any article which he thinks may prove attractive attractive ti tive ve to the readers |
