Show Iron County Tops 150 of Bond Drive Quota Iron county attained more than 150 per cent of its U. S. Defense Bond drive sales objective during the first four weeks of the fall campaign now under way, Chas. L. Smith, state chairman, reported report-ed today to county chairman, Sheldon Olds. Discussing the report Mr. Olds said that a total of $22,594 in Series E, F and G Defense Bonds credited to the county for the period from Sept. 3 to Oct. 6, did not include all bond sales actually ac-tually made. "This total does not include all post office sales or those made by some other issuing agents," Mr. Olds said. "It did not show! increased bond purchases pres-1 enly being made as the result of the Operation Flag City campaign,, cam-paign,, the payroll savings plan, the Bond-a-Month program or participation by women's clubs in the Bond-a-Member plan." "Our county's participation in this vital defense effort will show up much more when the complete report is available," he declared. "Of course every county Is vitally vi-tally interested in reaching its sales objective, but the main purpose pur-pose of the present Defense Bond drive is to increase participation participa-tion by individuals in regular savings. Richfield, St. George, Gunnison, Gunni-son, Tremonton and Delta are the most recent additions to the honor roll of U. S. Flag Cities. Accomplishments of Utah volunteers volun-teers in Operation Flag City have won national acclaim. Communities winning the honor hon-or earlier were Monroe, Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, Parowan, Garfield, Huntington, Hun-tington, Tooele, Helper, Morgan, Moroni, Centerville, Farmington, Wellsville, Richmond and Salina. |
