Show EXCHANGES We notice a change in two of f our most prized exchanges however a change for the better The St. St Johns John's Collegian greets us in an enlarged form while the Tech comes out in an entirely new dress and a very pretty one in honor of Junior week which the School of Technology has been celebrating celebrating celebrating cele cele- brating in royal style The paper prints two group pictures one of the mem members bers who took part in the presentation presentation presentation presen presen- tation of the French plays and the theother theother theother other of the members who took part in inthe inthe inthe the German plays Both pictures are very clear and quite interesting Coming from all over over the country we hear the cry for less work for seniors luring during the last four or five weeks of the year some colleges collAges petitioning the faculty to have no recitations for these faithful students after the 1st of May others are crying for the abolition of the commencement essay claiming that it is js too much strain on the students for too little honor that they are anxious and worked over-worked and consequently consequently consequently conse conse- cannot do themselves justice and therefore advocate employing an orator on this great occasion We may maybe maybe maybe be wrong but we cannot agree with them Perhaps it is because we cling to the old customs But we think that being class orator is certainly an honor and one that is appreciated by bythe bythe bythe the student chosen and if less work is expected from him in his daily recitations recitations recitations we think he will gladly devote the extra time to his oration From all quarters come the reports of debating and athletic contests The University of California in debate won the cup presented by the Examiner defeating Stanford The St. St J Johns John's o ns n's College I defeated the II middies at Annapolis and the Johns Hopkins nine but to enumerate all the signal victories w would tire both us and our patient readers so sowe sowe sowe we forbear The junior promenades and the many any athletic events have not effected the papers In fact this weeks week's exchanges are much better than usual The Red and Blue contains its prize story II Ad Ad Astra per Aspera which is very in interesting interesting interesting in- in II The Popham Colony at a very exhaustive sketch and a short criticism of Robert Louis Stevenson These are the best articles in this months month's issue This month the literary notes are arc interesting and the exchange department is much better Taken all in all the paper is one of the best of the year One of the best essays is found in inthe inthe inthe the St. St Johns John's Collegian viz 01 Continuity Continuity Con Con- Continuity of Human Existence but we cannot say that we admire the II Bal Poudre or think it in the least clever Mount Holyoke yoke prints a long poem II The children of the Castle Its Its length prevents us quoting it The best story in this number is II Was It Imagination Imagination Imagination nation which is a very clever story of an enthusiastic relic hunter but the most charming stories are found in n the College folio under the titles of II A ATrio ATrio A ATrio Trio and II Alls All's Well that Ends End's Well |
