Show Long Range City Beautification And Planning Urged City beautification and planning for a more attractive and convenient city were subjects discussed at the meeting of the Cedar City Lions Club Monday. J. C. Haws, City Beautlflcatlon Committee chairman, urged the Lions as an organization to work for a cleaner, more attractive city, not Just for the centennial year, but permanently, and also urged' the members as individuals to do, everything possible to Improve the appearance of his own property, and thus contribute materially to the beautification of the city as a whole. He pointed out that too often of-ten we become so accustomed to unsightly barns, fences, or vacant lots, that we are not aware of the effect they have on the beauty of our city. Theron Ashcroft, member of the City Planning Board, told of a proposed pro-posed plan to develop a community commun-ity rpntpr in whlrh nil eltv and county buildings would be kept In definite area with long range planning plan-ning as the deciding factor in the 1 location of each. He told of a pro- jj posal to locate this center on First I East street North of Center street, thus combining all building plans with the public buildings already in the area, including the City and County Public Safety Building, the Armory, First Ward Church and Federal or Post Office building. This plan is being studied by the 1 Planning Board, he said, and urged all interested citizens to consider the matter carefully and seek a voice in the, final decision on the matter. |
