that the ink bottles in inthe inthe inthe the library are always filled with ink to tos to's s 's see e also that pens are placed there with which students can write One gentleman gentle gentle- man The CHRONICLE box has been at last placed in the main hall It hangs immediately to the right of the Faculty Bulletin board and an earnest invitation is extended to all students students students stu only and not for publication On Monday the the CHRONICLE was Yas favored with a pleasant visit from John Meteer and Fred Nelson The former poses in iri the editorial chair of the Richfield Advocate and the latter is at the head of the T Tintic Miner Both seemed to breathe again the air of school days as they pass passed d through the rooms and hallways or sent an odd glance at the campus walking May is getting to be quite popular exercise and recreation At least we so infer as a young lady and young gentleman of our institution one day last week took themselves and a anice anice anice nice lunch away from the haunts of the busy world and ate it the lunch in a cave near the Warm Springs and afterwards afterwards afterwards after after- wards wandered over the hills Since then many gay youthful parties have imitated the example thus set We have a complaint to make on behalf behalf behalf be be- half of those who ride their bicycles to school They leave their wheels outside outside outside out out- side an and l go to classes There are certain certain certain tain people who seem to think they have havea a mortgage on all wheels unless a large iron chain and lock are used to prevent them from being carried off These people people people peo peo- if they wish to go up town choose a a. wheel from the lot and ride away without scruples as to honesty or pangs of conscience It should be done away with People who bring wheels to school do not in intend tend them to be used for the establishing of a free riding school r The positions in which we often find many of our young men while they are in the Library we do not commend One will sit in one chair place his feet on another and settle back apparently for a nap Our surprise is great to see him attempt to study in such a painful state of equilibrium Another will sit down place his feet upon the rounds of the chair and put his knees up into a position very near his chin And he even in such a position attempts to to study These are examples of the many we see We hope these young men will will hereafter be more dignified while in th the Library The Delta Phi Society gave its second second second sec sec- ond party of th the season Friday March 1st in Christensen's Hall The committee committee committee com com- fairly distinguished itself the hall being very beautifully decorated Dancing began at nine and continued until past half-past on one We noticed a great many many University people present but not as many as we should like to have seen These parties are given for the purpose of having a good time and we think they should be the means of socially socially socially so so- uniting the University students Y Yet t the attendance of so many outsiders shows how popular are the University parties The Delta Phi will pr probably bably give another party during spring Vacation vaca vaca- tion J Young Snell Gibson Bailey Bailey Bailey Bai Bai- ley Ames Caldwell Lynn Robinson and the CHRONICLE representative attended attended attended at- at tended the meeting of the Edina last Wednesday afternoon The program consisted of a piano solo by Miss Lynn and an essay on Helen Hunt Jackson by Miss Young which although short was extraordinarily well ell prepared We commend these two members for their good work The visitors were requested to address the society The CHRONICLE man had a nice little speech prepared but as Young had his say first it sounded rather flat Robinson in an eloquent speech on the subject of woman's womans womans woman's womans woman's wom wom- ans an's rights moved the ladies to tears Snells moustache took quite well and he received a round of applause upon closing Lynn seemed rather confused We presume it was on account of the presence of a certain critical personage The speeches given by the others were on the whole quite good and we are sorry that lack of space forbids us saying saying say say- ing more f J Jh JH u. u I |
