Show THE COL COLUMBIAN LEAGUE This is the name of an organization begun begun begun be be- gun by the Classical School of Milford Delaware and nd its members are young men throughout the United States who have at heart the welfare of our nation The League has for its object the study of American institutions with the hope of promoting pure love of country and of advancing the general welfare of the people The organization is to be above party distinctions and hopes to accomplish its end by educating its members in pure patriotism instead of parading its strength as an association We believe this to be a move in the right direction Every year shows more and more the need of reform in politics and if such reform is to be accomplished it will be mainly by the efforts of young men who have not yet entered the political cal field young field young men who have yet to choose between that elevated love of country which gave our nation birth and the political baseness which is becoming so common The purification of politics that politics that ir- ir dream as Senator Ingalls calls it must it-must must become an accomplished fact if America is to endure and this can be bedone bedone bedone done only by educating the masses in their duties as citizens and instilling such true loyalty into every American heart that such a thing as the purchase of a vote will be impossible We suggest that students think of this especially as as- our Territory is perhaps about to tn become a state and an will then require require require re re- quire the services of the brightest and best of her sons to guide her in her future course The Columbian League hopes to establish local branches in all the universities universities universities uni uni- and colleges in America and we hope when the call is made the students here will give the matter a full and free investigation tion |
