Show Tentative Premium List For Iron County Fair Is Announced In order that exhibitors at the annual Iron County Fair, to be held In Parowan on September 8, 9 and 10, a tentative premium list hua been released by the committee In charge. The general committee, headed by V. Scott Mitchell as chairman, hits been busy for the past two or three weeks, completing ttielr organization, and outlining plans to make the fair an outstanding event. Assisting Mr. Mitchell on the general gen-eral committee are: W. Clair Rowley, Row-ley, secretary, Clair Hulet treasurer; treasur-er; Lamont E. Tueller, Jess W. Guy-mon, Guy-mon, Clayton Rasmussen, Karl O. Mitchell, Dr. T. Donald Bell, Warren War-ren Pendleton, Leonard Evans. Ar-Yilla Ar-Yilla Mortensen, Rulon Lyman, Alma Al-ma Hyatt, Ross Taylor, Richard M. Benson, Howard Ward and Victor M. Norman. The premium list released, although al-though not complete as to details, Ls as follows: Field Crops-Airalfa. Soft Wheat, hard wheat, barley, oats, rye, coin (field), one dozen curs, coin (Held) stalks, nilchael rye, ' potatoes white ru'.e, russety, bliss, carrots, l',t field crops exhibit, grass hay. Vegetables Beans (string , beans (dry), squash, onions,, tomatoes, peppers, pep-pers, cabbage, cucumbers, table beets, cauliflower, lettuce, peas, sweet corn, spinach, brussel sprouts, soy beans, endive, bioccolll, best vegetable crop exhibit. Fruits Apples, any kind; pears, peaches, apricots, plums, prunes, best fruit exhibit. Poultry Best laying hen, pen of three laying hens, best rooster, pen of three pullets, best torn turkey, pen of Wiree turkey hens. Breeding Dairy, In Holsteln, Jersey Jer-sey and Ouernsey breeds aged cow, heifer, 1 year to calving; heifer, one year or under; Bull, one year and over; bull, one year and under; best exhibit, at least three animals. Most milk, (most butterfat on a 24-hour 24-hour basis), grand champion male, and grand champion female. Breeding Beef in Hereford, and Shorthorn breeds Junior bull, senior sen-ior bull, aged cow, heifer, 1 year and under 2; heifer, one year and under; un-der; best exhibit of at least 3 animals, ani-mals, baby beef, grand champion male and grand champion female. There will also be premium for clothing and needlework both for adults and children, using the sume scoring as used by county fairs throughout the state, consisting of general appearance, suitability to purpose, workmanship, and econom-1c econom-1c aspect. Canned fruits, vegetables, meals, and fats, also Jellies and Jams, pickles pick-les and relish along with home dried fruits and vegetables will also carry a lot of Interest. Color, form, size, foliage and stem will be the basis for scoring entries In tiie flower show. |
