Show Publicity Important To School and Home Understanding It is of greatest importance for the school and the home to undo! un-do! stand each other, because they are partners in the bigpest job on earth. Understanding between be-tween these two institutions which nurture the child is necessary neces-sary for effective teamwork. The teachers realize the tremendous tre-mendous importance of the home in education. One great educator says, "Educationally, the home is the most powerful of all social institutions." We try to get the viewpoint and policies and ideas of the parents through visits and parent-teacher conferences. We recognize and appreciate the objectives ob-jectives and program of the Parent-Teacher's Association for bringing the home and school closer together. The school is most anxious to acquaint the parents with its program, objectives, and policies. The students are the most effective effect-ive interpreters of school life. Almost Al-most every child, almost every day, gives a word-by-word description de-scription at home of school happenings. hap-penings. For many parents and patrons this is the most graphic picture and the most valid evaluation eval-uation of the schools presented to them. There are other ways of appraising ap-praising parents of the activities carried on in schools. A most important one is the newspaper. The Iron County Schools are very fortunate in having excellent help and cooperation from both the local and state newspapers. It is difficult to estimate the-; the-; value of and to adequately ex-press ex-press appreciation for such friendly interest and support. Faculty members who are-skillful are-skillful photographers are ready and willing to spend hours of their own time to take pictures of school activities. Their contributions con-tributions have added much interest in-terest to the school's publicity program. "Education is an essential industry." in-dustry." We must work together to make it successful. |
