Show Parowan Hoop Team Wins Annual Circleville Tourney The Parowan town basketball team won the 26th annual Circleville Cir-cleville commercial club tournament tourna-ment at that place last week end by winning two out of three games the team played. In the championship battle the Parowan Paro-wan team beat Monroe 57 to 53. Monroe has been winner of the meet most of the time during the 26 years it has been held. Orderville took third place in the meet, Marysvale took fourth place, Circleville fifth, and Escalante Es-calante sixth in the six team tournament. In Friday night's play, Parowan Paro-wan lost to Circleville, 68-67, but the next morning won from a strong Marysvale outfit, 57-53 in an over time game. The two teams were tied 51 all at the end of regular play. Monroe won from Escalante and Circleville to gain the championship round. Players in the tournament for Parowan were Carlyle Hulet, Jack Stevens, Thales Brown, Clair Robinson, Ivan Beem, Jim-mie Jim-mie Hyatt, Collins Mitchell. Joe Benson, Charles Dalton, Hyatt Bentley and Duane Adams. Following Saturday night's games, an all-tourney team was selected with Ivan Beem selected for a first team berth and Carlyle Hulet and Duane Adams getting places on the second team. Adams was unable to play Saturday Sat-urday night because his Parowan high team was playing Milford, and Clair Robinson was unable to play Saturday morning because be-cause of his work. |
