Show Board of Education Approves Purchase of F. F. A. Farm The Board of Education of the Iron County School District at its meeting Monday, approved a program pro-gram of te Parowan High School Future Farmer Chapter, that should prove extremely beneficial to the gram of the Parowan High School of a far reaching program of Future Farmer activities in the District. The Board approved the purchase of a small farm for the Parowan FFA Chapter, and in effect underwrote under-wrote the project. The Chapter members will operate the farm, and will finance the entire project, relieving re-lieving the district of any financial obligation. It is expected to prove a highly interesting and beneficial training project. As te result of a refuest from the State Department of Public Instruction Instruc-tion for a summary of school building build-ing needs within the Iron County district, the Board members spent considerable time in a consideration of building needs. Tentatively listed as definite needs in the district included in-cluded expansion of shop facilities at the Cedar City and Parowan high schools, lunch room facility expansion ex-pansion at the Cedar City schools, expansion of the Cedar elementary school building, where serious overcrowding over-crowding has developed, provision for music rooms at the Cedar City schools, renovation or expansion of the auditorium at the Parowan higfl school, and perhaps some type of building for the Escalante Valley, where increased farming activity is creating a need for school facilities. Approval was given Miss Mary McMUlen, Primary Supervisor, to work on the Language Arts Committee Com-mittee of the State Deparment of Public Instruction. Census takers were appointed to conduct a school census throughout through-out this district during the last two weeks of the month of October, Those appointed were: Gaylen Williams, Kanarra; Mrs. Robert Piatt, Newcastle;; Mrs. EdlWi Force, Modena; Carmen Topham, Paragon -ah; Miss Loretta Perry and Mrs. Edith Baker, Cedar City; Mrs. Eu-lala Eu-lala Orton, Parowan; Mrs. Ella Lawrence, Sumlt; Mrs. Georgia Hunt, Beryl; and Mrs. Rue C. Jones, Enoch. |
