Show Knife Made In ! Cedar City Saves Lives of Three Men H. A. Terry, chairman of the Cedar Ce-dar City L'ons Club "Knives for Servicemen" committee, reports that at least one of the knlvos distributed by the club hru been credited with savin; the lives of servicemen. This particular knife, which was sent to a member of the air forces serving in the South Pacific combat com-bat zone, Is reported to have saved the lives of three men. According to the story, the owner of the knife and two other men were forced to ball out of their plane while over enemy territory. The only we&xon they had was the knife contributed by the Cedar City Lions Club, but through Its use the men were aile to fight their way back to their own base. It Is also reported that two Japs fell victim to the knife while the men struggled struggl-ed to get out of reach of the enemy. Flight Officer Hamblln Leigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Webster Lelg'i of Cedar City, who Is now station, ed at Bowman Field, Lou'sville, Ken tucky, has also received one of the knives and Mr. Terry Is In receipt of a letter from Hamblln In which he expresses his deep appreciation for the gift. Mr. -Terry announces that 27 knives have been sent to men In the service and that the program will continue. However, the sponsors spons-ors of the project are running short of material, particularly leather to be used for handles. An appeal !s therefore made for all those having hav-ing leather they would like to contribute con-tribute to this worthy cause to notify noti-fy Mr. Terry at once. |
