Show Commissioners Take Final Action On Road Program The Board cf County Commissioners Commis-sioners at the regular May meeting of the Board held In Parowan last week took final action in setting up a ccunty postwar road building program. A program recommended by the county postwar planning committee had been considered previously and with a few minor changes was officially adopted at the May meeting, the details of the program were published In the Record Re-cord and the Pnrowt.n Times when It was tntativoly adopted last month. Other business transacted at the meeting was as follows: The purchase of $2,000.00 worth j of War Bonds with county roadj funds was approved. Action taken some time ago to purchase the Clark home in Parowan Paro-wan for use as an old folks home, was approved and thp committee instructed to proceed with repairs and redecorating in order that the home can be established as socn as possible. An easement cr rightofway over county property for the lastallatlon r.f a pipeline for culinary water was granted the town of Newcastle. LaMotit Thornock was appointed! as weed eradication supervisor for the North end of the county, at a salary of $175 per month. The County Coun-ty Clerk was Instructed to Inform the city and town administrations that complaints have been filed by farmers that noxious weeds are spreading because of failure to eradicate the weeds within the limits lim-its of the cities and towns, and to ask for Uie cooperation of these groups In the eradication program The Commissioners, after being Informed that the State Tax Com-mlsslr.n Com-mlsslr.n had named County Assessor Hlllman Di.lley as a member of a committee to study the matter of depreciation of buildings for assess-1 ment purposes, authorized Mr. Dal-lry Dal-lry to attend the meetings of the crmmittcc whenever called. The County Clerk was Instructed to write the Under Industrial Development De-velopment Commission and ask that funds at the disposal of the commission be appropriated for the construction of a road from the Cedar-Long Valley highway running run-ning South to connect with the Zion Park road in Kane County to permit the development of the can-He! can-He! coal deposits In that area. |
