Show Former Cedar City Resident Dies In Plane Crash Word was received in Cedar City last week end of the death of Lieutenant Lieu-tenant Robert 8. Wright, grandson ot James Smith of Cedar City, in an airplane crash. Lt. Wright was killed on April 8th., when his plane crashed. In the bay at Atlantic, North Carolina, where he was In training with the U. S. Marines. Lieutenant Wright was born In Cedar City, on July 20. 1921, a son of John C. and Ann Smith Wright, and spent his childhood here. The Wrights are now residents of Salt Lake City. Before enlisting In the Marines In January, 1942, he was a senior student at the University of Utah. He had formerly attended atten-ded the Brlgham Young University at Provo and Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural College at Logan. He was a graduate of East high school in Salt Lake City. He had received his preliminary training at the naval reserve aviation avia-tion base at Oakland, Cal., and his Intermediate and advanced training train-ing at Corpus Chrlstl. Texas. He received his commission at operational opera-tional marine flight training school, Miami, Fla. For Uie last few months he has bren stationed at Cherrypolnt. N. C. |
