Show Cedar City High School Mows By Dorothy Gardner If the townspeople should think they are slightly Insane they need not fear, what they see Is Just tlie Juniors In their new class sweaters. These sweaters are very attractive and practical. The seniors sen-iors will have class rings, but these wlllnot be quite so consplclous as the Juniors' crimson and gold swest-ers. Three of our high school alumni have been visiting here during the past week. Bill. Hess on leave from the Navy, Carroll Olds from the Marine Corps, and Oarth Webster from the Army. The seniors have ordered their commencement announcements, a sure sign that for many of them their formal education will soon be at an end. The cards are quite attractive and will bear on them an Indian head, the school symbol, and a sketch of the school build-lng. build-lng. They are ordering the cards this year from The Iron County Record. Mr. Haws is casting the play this week which will be presented sometime some-time near the first part of April. The play that was chosen this year is George M. Cohan's comedy ''Seven ''Sev-en KeyB to Baldpate". A large number of the high school girls are planning to follow a career of nursing, and many of them are sending In their applications at the present time. Helen Grayce Bate-man Bate-man has already been accepted and will start her training as a Cadet Nurse in June. t Also in the line of nursing, two homenurslng classes have been organized or-ganized at the high school in connection con-nection with the girls' physical education classes. The Instructors for these classes are Mrs. Harriet Stewart. Mrs. Ina L. Gardner, ana Mrs. Elizabeth Courtney. The Red Cross text book is being used for this course. Plans are being made for the Oirls' Organisation's Annual Senior Breakfast. The is a very nice affair af-fair that Is given only to the girls of the graduating class and the lady faculty members. This breakfast break-fast is held in the dining room at the high school on Jhe last Sunday Sun-day before commencement. The committee for the special secret favors are Wllma Mendenhall, chairman, chair-man, and Marylin Gadd and Lyta Esplin, members. Delores House is chairman of the breakfast committee. Since Paul Palmer received honorable honor-able mention In the Westtnghouse science contest he has received letters let-ters from several of the universities univers-ities throughout the country. He Just recently received a letter from Cornell University and Massachusetts. Massachus-etts. Institute of Technology. |
