Show Grant J. Stewart Wins August Athletic Award Grant J. Stewart was chosen this week ns the outstanding, physical training student in the 316th. Army Air Forre College Training Detachment, De-tachment, according toLee Litton, head of the physical training staff at the college. Stewart received the Athletic Awa-d presented monthly by the Staff in recognition for the excellent work he has done. Stewart is a resident of Bla:k-ville. Bla:k-ville. West Virginia, and has been in military service for nineteen months, having served as a radio operator for six months In California Cal-ifornia and Washington before being be-ing sent to Cedar City for traaiing with the Army Air Forces. His winning of the Athletic Award Is rather unusual is that he had not had an opportunity to gain fame as an athlete before entering en-tering military service. He earned his boxing letter at the Blackville high school, and had plaed so:re football, but had not had college experience as an athlete. An unusually fine attitude Inward In-ward the program together with plenty of natural ability, won the award for Stewart, Mr. Liston reported. |
