Show EOltEST CONSERVATION FILM SHOWN AT ROTARY CLUB Members of the Rotary Club at their meeting Tuesday enjoyed an interesting motion picture depicting depict-ing the problems of forest and water shed conservation In the U-nited U-nited States. The film was shown by Howard Baker through the courtesy of the U. S. Forest Service. The picture showed the problems of forest conservation, and the Importance Im-portance of that conservation, not only as a means of saving the products pro-ducts produced from the forests, but for the benefit of the population popula-tion through the protection of vital water sheds. The depletion of forests for-ests through heavy use, waste, and from damage from fire and Insects was also a part of the picture. The Importance of public control was emphasized through a comparison compar-ison of the loss by fire and Insect infestation, etc., on private and public grounds. The loss on private lands ls many times greater than that on public lands, because It ls imiwsslble for the private owner to finance control programs. |
