Charles T. T Vorhies who comes to Utah from Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin Wis Wis- where he has done clone some some exceptionally exception exception- r ally creditable work He is a young man and a thorough student and already has an extensive national reputation on subjects C S relating relating relating re re- lating to medicine That the department willbe will willbe willbe be brought to the highest highes' point of efficiency rapidly is very evident with such men as Drs Vorhies and in charge Dr came from Chicago last year and did excellent work in anatomy The courses offered in materia medica anatomy embryology embryology embry embry- mb y- y histology and chemistry cannot l be e beaten anywhere The credits from the Utah College of Medicine are readily accepted accept accept- ed by all th the large and import important nt schools of medicine in the country Many Improvements Made During the summer vacation many large and extensive improvements have been made under the watchful eye of Mr A large two-story two addition has been made to the gymnasium building concrete te walks have been laid in the Circle and the buildings buildings buildings build build- ings have all been thoroughly repaired Every inducement for good sound study I and work has been done The new addi addi- tion will be used as a students' students cafe and lunch room Miss liss Lucy Van Cott dean of the college women will have charge ch rge Three large fine meals a day will be served the students at cost Breakfast 7 30 to 9 30 dinner 11 1130 30 to 2 supper 5 30 to 7 The Thes s second cond floor will be a general lunch room for all students of the University and with the aid of the dumb waiter will be used extensively for banquet and party purposes It is estimated d that two or three hundred students can can can-be be accommodated at one time All the modern cooking and storage conveniences conveniences conveniences con con- have been installed in connection with the kitchen making it one of the most up-to-date up and modern bakeries ies in the W west St St. For several years Air r. has been working on the Circle and the campus getting getting get get- get ting suitable walks planting trees rees and nd vines V C and getting a hardy growth of tort The regents regents re re- gents have at last thanks to his his efforts seen fit to build concrete walks and grade the drive Now the Circle is beginning to make a satisfactory appearance and be a credit to the University The trees vines and grass gras have seemingly taken a new lease on life and andare andare andare are trying to outdo one another It now appears that it is only a matter of a very short time until Utah can can boast of the best campus in the country We vVe have th the site and ability to place it there and thus aid in making Utah the leading educational center cen cell cell- ter that it should be |
