Show Recreation Program Features Daily Organ Recital Under the auspices of the Cedar City Recreation Department, a dally organ recital Is being presented present-ed each evening from 8:00 to 8:30 p. m. The special program, to be broadcast from the Cedar City L. D. S. First Ward chapel, will feature fea-ture Frank Van Cott, local musician, and a member of the Recreation staff. Tourists and Interested music lovers from Iron County are invited invit-ed to attend the program in person, or to tune in at KSUB at 8 p. m. In addition to this special feature, fea-ture, the Recreation department is offering the following program of activities for the children of Cedar City: On Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a. m. until 12 noon, and dally at 1 p. m., music and dramatic activities ac-tivities are conducted by Mrs. Rhea Wakellng and Mrs. Isabelle Pap-worth. Pap-worth. The children have been playing and acting out stories and songs. Daily from 2:00 until 4:00 p. m., Mrs. Wakellng, assisted by David Banks, is supervising children's handicraft and play activities at the park. The children are making their own checkers from broom handles, to be used In the checkers tournament. tourna-ment. Already some fine players have won the dally contests. Swings and a sandplle will be set up by the City for playground use. Horseshoe pitching, pin-pong and various craft activities will be included in this daily program. A special story hour has been scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays Thurs-days at 4 p. m. In the park. Various members of the community who are excellent In telling stories for children, have consented to assist with these story hours throughout the summer. Among these storytellers story-tellers are Mrs. Frances Barlow, Mrs. Mattie Booth, Miss Dlone Booth, Mrs. Elayne Southwtck, Miss Mary Nelson, Mrs. Ella Jackson, and Mrs. Fae Dix. The story groups will be divided into age groups. Miss Mary Nelson will act as story teller on Monday and Thursday for next week. Also for the benefit of the small children from 4 to 7 years of age, a music and ryhthm group Is being conducted in the First Ward recreation re-creation hall on Tuesdays and Fridays Fri-days from 4 to S p. m., under the direction of Mrs. Papworth. Other children will meet from 5 to 6 p. m. All parents wishing to have their children participate in this activity activ-ity are requested to either bring or send the children to the First Ward church on Tuesdays and Fridays at the hours specified above. A children's dance is being sponsored spon-sored every other Wednesday from 4 to 5 p. m. The first of this series was held in the Junior high school gymnasium on Wednesday, July 16, with a large group of children participating par-ticipating in the dances. In addition to the activities listed here, the regular swimming and softball scehdules will continue during the summer. All activities under the city program pro-gram are free to the general public, except for the cost of some handicraft handi-craft materials.
