Show Sec'y of Agriculture Proclaims Wheat Marketing Quotas Secretary of Agriculture Clau.l? B. Wickurd hits proclaimed wheat marketing quotas for the 1942 crop ear on the basis of estimated supplies sup-plies for the 1942-43 marketing year according to Information received by J M. Palmer, chairman of the Iron county AAA committee. The proclamation was made at 'hi.s early date for the benefit if .Tinners seeding wheat this fall, Chairman Palmer stated. Quotas are already in effect on the 1911 crop wh eh has assured farmers a hiiih loan value for their wheat. loan program in 1942 will depend on farmers approving wheat ma'-rating ma'-rating quotas for next year in a elerendum which will probably be leld next spring. Estimated carry-over of wheat on July 1, 1942. is 640 million bushels ind the 1942 crop on the basis of the 55-inillion acre allotment L .'stiinated at GG0 million bushels. The quota level, which Ls the amount )f wheat utilized for domestic consumption con-sumption and export plus a 35 pr ent reserve, has been placed at 993 million bushels. On this basis the :upply of wheat in 1942 will exceed 'he quota level by more than 300 nilllon bushels. "In view of this large supply of A'heat, marketing quotas are necessary neces-sary to protect the loan program ind equally distribute the available market among the wheat producers A the country," Mr. Palmer said. "As a result of marketing quotas, acreage allotments and wheat loans, 'ron county fanners are enjoying i better price for their wheat than hey have had for several years." |
