Show I DEMOCRATS NAME I CITY TICKET Most Enthusiastic Primary in I Years. Majority of Nominees Are Young Men sbV I Saturday night the Democr&ts of the city met in primary con- vention and named what is ad-I ad-I ... mitted to be a strong municipal I ticket. Precinct Chairman, I Parley Dalley presided andPre-I andPre-I cinct Secretary, Robert S. Gard-1 Gard-1 ner was secretary of the meet- I ing I When nominations for mayor I were called for it looked for I some time as if available timber I were scarce, a number of nom- I inees refusing to permit their I names to go before the conven- 1 tion. After a time, however, 1 cadidates appeared sufficient to I afford -an ideal selection, accord- ing to every patriot present, no 1 matter what his ideals might I have been. The following names I were placed before the conven-1 conven-1 tion: E. B. Dalley, R. S. Gard-1 Gard-1 ner, W. K. Granger and Lehi I W. Jones. It required three I ballots to make a choice, Mr. I Granger winning out over the I other nominees. I For long term councilman the I ,r names of R. M. Corry, Wm. H. I Gorry, R. S. Gardner and A. G. I Matheson were placed before I the convention, Wm. H. Corry I winning on the second ballot. I For short term councilmen I Moroni Corry, Dr. Rufus Leigh, I Bengt Nelson, Jr., W, H. Adair and R. S. Gardner were' the 8 nominees, Corry, Nelson and Gardner were selected on the first ballot. W Hillman Dalley, Dr. Rufus - Leigh, E. H., .Macfarlane and Stanley Parry were placed be fore the convention, the ballot resulting in Mr. Dalley securing the nomination. Candidates for city treasurer were plentiful, the names of Wallace H. Adair, Stanley Parry, E. M. Corry and Dr. Rufus ' Leigh being placed before the convention. Mr. Corry received the nomination on the first ballot, due, it is said, to the fact that being a banker he had a strong pull with the "financial" interests in-terests represented at the convention con-vention A nominating committee to fill vacancies was selected, consisting con-sisting of S. F. Leigh, W. H. Adair and Henry F. Jones. A committee to conduct the campaign and arouse the faithful faith-ful was named, consisting of Andrew Corry, Edward Parry, Thos. Urie, S. F. Leigh and Henry Jones. The ticket is a strong one throughout and no doubt will make a strong bid for the ballots of the people at the election in Novembpr. |
