Twelve of H these are 14,000 feet or more H high. The highest is ' Mount H Whitney, which is also the high- H est peak in the United States, H with an elevation of 14.501 feet. H Mount Williamson is the next H highest, 14,384 feet. The eleva- H tion of Mount Shasta, probably H the third highest peak in the H State, has not been determined H exactly, but it is about 14,380 M feet high. Other mountains nt- H taining more than 14,000 feet H are: South Peak of White H Mountain, North Palisade Moun- H tain. Mount Russell, Split Moun- H tain, Middle Palisade Mountain, H Mount Langley, Mount Muir, H Mount Tyndnll, and Mount B Barnard. |
