Show COLDEST WAVE IN MEMORY OF OLDEST INHABITANT The cold wave that prevailed throughout the TCJnited States the early pat of the week was of particular severity in this city. The storm began , Saturday with a heavy snow accompanied with a- heavy wind which amounted almost to a blizzard. The temperature continued falling fall-ing until Monday morning, when, according to the government thermometer at the Branch Normal, Nor-mal, it reached 18 degrees below be-low zero. This is the coldestjtemperature ever recorded in this city, the oldest inhabitants being unanimous unani-mous in the statement that never before in thejr recollection was the weather as cold, as during .the present rold wav.e; The severe cold caused considerable consid-erable suffering both to persons and stock, as well as considerable consider-able damage from frozen water pipes.
