Show IF America was only able to drop one million more well-trained and well equipped troops down on the French and Italian fronts right now. we believe be-lieve that the war would come to an early end. Austria is showing strong signs of going to pieces and there is serious dissatisfaction and unrest in Germany herself with the war administration. The food situation is growing acute as evidenced by the fact that horses of the French cavalry killed on the battle field were greedily sie.ed upon forf ood by the German and Austrian soldiers, who are undoubtedly much better fed and provided pro-vided for than the civilian population. It does not seem that in the face of the terrible losses sustained sus-tained in the recent big offensive on the Western for food by the German and Austrian soldiers, made to submit to the slaughter of their young men and the starving of themselves much longer, in the vain hope of achieving a decisive victory for German and Austrian arms. In fact, we believe be-lieve that the kaiser and his supporters themselves them-selves are beginning to find themselves in a position posi-tion of a man who has seized hold of a live wire, and are unable to let loose. Hut right now is the time when help is needed and badly needed by our allies. (R |
