Show PIONEER DAY WAS FITTINGLY OBSERVED Yesterday was almost an ideal day far the celebration of the arrival ar-rival of the pioneers into Utah, The rains of the day previous' had settled the dust and cooled and refreshened the air, making it delightful for those who took part in the sporting events and comfortable.for he old folks who attended the exercises in the tab ernacle in the forenoon and the Ward Hall in the afternoon. The programs were exceptionally exception-ally interesting and were fully enjoyed by the large number who' attended. The winners of the chief sporting events were as follows; The $10 prize for the best ten-minutes' ten-minutes' entertainment was divided di-vided between the wrestlers and Miss Sarah TJrie as "The Country Kid." The pole vault was won by Marion Wilkinson, the boys' bicycle race fcy Emerson Emer-son Jones,and the adding race by S. J. Foster and Mrs. Wm. Macfarlane. |
