Show RICHARD PEARCE DIES OF INFLUENZA AT BEAVER Friends and acquaintances of Mr. Richard Pearce of Beaver, athlete, insurance in-surance man and later proprietor of the Beaver Hotel, will be shocked and grieved to learn that he recently fell a victim to the dread influenza contagion. con-tagion. He died Jan. 23, a hemorrhage hemor-rhage from the lungs, produced by a fit of coughing when convalescing from influenza was the cause of his death. He leaves a wife and some five or six children to mourn his demise. de-mise. Pearce firot came into prominence as the star actor on the Murdock, (or Beuver Academy, then) track and athletic team, some 15 years or more ago, when he took highest honors and won easily the all-around trophy. He later taught school in Cedar City and has since frequently visited here in the capacity of an insurance agent, and in connection with other business ventures. A few years ago he purchased pur-chased the Beaver Hotel and made many friends by his courteous and considerate treatment of his guests. "Dick" was a jolly fellow and a clean sport. We deeply regret his untimely death and sincerely condole with the bereaved family. |
