Undor a dato in January, 1C90, "following Indigestion from eating eat-ing too much pastry with cream," tho llttlo princo writes: "To correct mo for my greed, Mgr. l'Abbo do Fonolon dictated to mo this morning n fablo called 'A Voyago In tho Island of Delight.' It Is a Btory of a traveler who having fared too woll in a marvelous island, becomes disgusted dis-gusted finally and returns to n sober lifo. I shall do tho samo but not until un-til I havo spent n long time in this Island, whero I should lovo to go. I read over again tho description with dollgh't. "Thcro nro tho mountains of compote, com-pote, rocks of sugar candy and carnmol and rivers of sirup, so that tho inhab ltants lick all tho roads and suck thoir fingers nftor dipping thorn in tho rivers. There aro great trees from which fall cakes that tho wind carries into tho mouths of trnvelors whenever thoy open them. Farther off thero aro mines of ham, sausages and peppery ragouts, and streams of onion sauce. Tho dew of tho morning is white wino." And to this tho llttlo princo has added, "Ah, Monsieur l'Abbo, your talo justifies my indigestion!" |
