Show The New High School Principal Admirably adapted ajid thoroughly trained for tho position of Principal of the Carbon County High School comes Prof. LeRoy E. Cowles. Mr. Cowles has had a very successful career as a school man. In addition to the six years ho spent as instructor instruc-tor in tho Weber Stake Academy at Ogden, he spent two years in the public schools of Wasatch County. During his first and second years in the Academy, ho was in ohargo of the preparatory department. For the remaining four years he was at the head of the English department. In 1910 ho was graduated from the University of Chicago with the degree of bachelor of science. Early this month he will receive the degree of Master of Art from the University of Chicago, His thesis is on tho high school situation in Utah, a subject sub-ject of which he has made extensive study. Among tho educational subjects studied by Professor Cowles in Chicago Chi-cago are the following : General psychology, educational .psychology, psychology of high school subjects, me scnooi anu me community, tno teaching of English literature; principles prin-ciples of education, history of education, educa-tion, child psychology, and experimental experi-mental education. So it will be seen that Mr. Cowles is thoroughly pro-pared pro-pared in educational subjects. Among those giving Professor Cowles first class recommendation are the following: Prof. W. W. Henderson, David 0. McKay, Prof. Henry Peterson, Supt. John M. Mills, Supt. A. 0. Nelson and many others. Mr. Qowles and family will bo in Price within the next few weeks, and will take up residence hero. Tho opening of school will bo Sept. 2, and with its greatly improved facilities fa-cilities it will bo in better position than ever to give the young people of Eastern Utah the very best thero is in high school education. |
