Hens With Chicks. Hens with chicks must not be allowed al-lowed to havo too much freedom, according ac-cording to the Poultry department of the Ulah Agricultural College. The hens have great propensities for scratching and will soon ruin a piece of land if it is meant for anything elso. The hens are natural scratchers and when they have their brood they are more so. The freshly plowed fields arc splendid places for hens with chicks. They should not bo allowed, al-lowed, however, to go too fnr away from the house, for a sudden storm might ariso causing the hen and har brood much discomfort. Tho best thing to do with a hen and a brood is to provide a small coop and move it often to where tho ground is soft and freshly spaded. It is also well to provide a little lath run into which tho hen may go also and she will assist as-sist the chicks in securing their food.
