Show INTERMNTMN INK SHOW. Preliminary arrangements for tho fifth annual Intormountnin Livestock show, to be given in Salt Lako City, April 3, 4, 5 and G, indicate that tho exhibitions this year will by far surpass sur-pass any of tho pnst years. Dr. R. N. Mead, who has been appointed director, direc-tor, has received assurances that at least sixty-eight carloads of purebred pure-bred sheep, cattlo and Bwino will be sent in from all states of tho inter-mountain inter-mountain and Pacific group, and that I in addition to this there will bo numerous nu-merous dairy products nnd educational educa-tional displays. Tho premiums will run over $5,000. Exhibitions fryr the premiums have been classified as follows: Individual fat cattle, carload fat cattle, carload I feeder cattle, carload fat lambs, carload car-load fat hogs, hercfords, shorthorns, dairy cattle, breeding swine, breeding sheep nnd boys und girls' club work. The judges, who are to be named at a later date, aro to bo selected from tho best authorities in the country. This will bo tho first year dairy displays havo been mado a special fcaturo of tho show. Increased interest inter-est in development of the dairy industry indus-try throughout the west is responsible responsi-ble for this Btep, and every effort is to bo made to bring the dairy displays dis-plays up to tho highest possible standard for tho initial year. Tho dairy bureau of the United States department of agriculture has agreed to cooperate in making a success suc-cess of this feature, and the creamery cream-ery concerns in the various states havo expressed their intention of sending elaborate displays. Prizes are to bo awarded for all dairy products. pro-ducts. Tho states to bo represented include California, Washington, Oregon, Ore-gon, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, nnd Utah. Special prizes are to be nwarded as an inducement to increase tho educational ed-ucational features of tho show. Calves, lambs and pigs raised by tho boys ond girls clubs of tho different states are to be given special attention atten-tion this year, handsome prizes being offered in this department. Tho exhibits ex-hibits generally will be more exten-sivo exten-sivo than in the past, and the live stock will be of a higher quality. In addition to tho department of agriculture, tho co-operation of tho Utah Agricultural College and the American Breeders' association has been offered in tho educntional divis-ion. divis-ion. Special classes of instruction are to bo arranged by tho agricultural agricul-tural college. Tho committee in charge has announced an-nounced that a program of entertainments enter-tainments for visiting exhibitors will bo outlined. Whilo detailed plans havo not been completed tcntatvo arrangements ar-rangements havo been made for a banquet at the Salt Lako Commercial Club and Chamber of Commerce. This will be in tho nature of a "good fellowship" fel-lowship" dinner, to bo attended by the visiting livestock men and Salt Lako business men. The entries en-tries to date assure tho director a total to-tal of at least G8 carloads of stock, while the highest tdtal heretofore was thirty-seven carloads. The stock entered so far is of the highest quality qual-ity obtainable in tho states to be represented. rep-resented. The committee hsB announced that extensive nowspapcr and poster advertising ad-vertising will begin tho early part of the year in San Francisco, Seattle, Spokane, Portland, Denver, Butte, Chcyene, Ogden and other cities of the west.
